Robert Dye Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holley-Gamble Funeral Home, Inc. - Clinton on Mar. 2, 2026.
Robert Charles Dye, affectionately known as "Bobby," was born on May 16, 1968, and departed this life on Friday, February 27, 2026, at UT Medical Center.

Bobby was known for his meek and mild temperament and his gift for adding extra flavor to every story he told. He loved his family. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and had been a faithful member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church since birth. He was baptized in the Clinch River alongside his sister and his cousins, the Dowdys, by the late Reverend O.W. Willis, Sr., who, along with his wife Vernice, lovingly served as honorary grandparents.

He was active in the church youth choir, the Male Chorus, and faithfully served as a junior deacon standing alongside his grandfather, Willie, until his adult years. Bobby was also a proud member of the Clinton Rebels football team and a Clinton Senior High School Dragon alumnus, earning a letter in football.

As a child, you could always find Bobby on the riverbanks fishing with his father and grandfather. Even after their passing, he continued the tradition-later casting lines from his own boat with his son, Branden. During rabbit season, he enjoyed hunting with family and friends. He also loved bowling and was a member of the Homecrest Corporation bowling team, and on the softball team for Omega Cabinets, as well as the team for Mount Sinai Baptist Church in the church leagues. Eventually, Bobby slowed down many of his extracurricular activities to continue his focus on raising his children, who were truly the beat of his heart. He was well respected in the community as a devoted single father and a steady presence in his children's lives.

As the only full siblings, Bobby and his sister, Sonia, shared a special lifelong bond built on faith, family traditions, shared adventures along the riverbanks as children, and a deep love for one another that had no boundaries.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Dye and Joyce Dye; grandparents, Charles and Artie Young and John Willie Dye and Sadie Dye; uncle, Edward Asbury; and father-in-law, Owen Edward Duncan.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of eight years, SheilaDuncan Dye; daughters, Brittany Scalf (Ricky) and Brandi Loving; son, Branden Dye; stepchildren, Quinton Maples, Katelyn Maples, and Tyler Barbee; grandchildren, Elliot Barnett, Tryston Dye, Aria Hawker, Aiden Maples, Arlo Maples, and Carmen Maples; sisters, Sonia Dye, Yashiallion Thrasher (Travis), Lazendra Willis, Tyishnia Morgan (Carlos), and Candi Dye; brothers, Reeshawn Willis (Tracy) and Cody Dye; aunts, Willie Mae Harris (Robert), Leola Harris, Lillie March, and Ann Dowdell; uncle, John Dye (Waynette); mother-in-law, Marilyn Duncan; sister-in-law, Cathy Jones (Scott); brother-in-law, Eddie Duncan (Midge); the mother of his children, Cynthia Inklebarger; special friend, Johnny Golden; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Special nephew Ajai Coleman.

The family extends special thanks to Anderson County EMS, the Anderson County Sheriff's Department, and his devoted home health nurses, and our deepest gratitude to the Comfort Care Staff at UTMC for ensuring that his crossing over was painless and peaceful.

The family will receive friends at Holley Gamble Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 5:00 pm, with the funeral beginning at 7:00 pm. He will be cremated according to his wishes, and his ashes will be buried alongside his mother.

He has now cast his final line and rests peacefully with the Lord - Gone Fishing On Heaven's Banks.
