Robert "Bob" E. Eckenfels, Sr. passed away peacefully in his home the morning of September 22, 2022.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Louise and George; his loving wife, Daisy; brothers, Paul and Bill; granddaughter Megan; and daughter-in-law, Katrina.
Bob is survived by his children: Bobby, Mary Ann Cash (Danny), Tommy (Debbi),Terri Schneider (Keith), Kathy Savage and Joey (Cindy); brother, Roger; grandchildren: Carol Ann, Danny, Stephanie, Kelly, Erin, Casey, Cody, Emily, Jack, Paul, Erika, Scott, Joey, Taylor, and Wesley; great-grandchildren: Lilly, Colin, Cameron, Brayden, Hailey, Madison, Jayden, Shelby, Dayton, Bryson, and Stevie and his dear friend Donna Mullaney.
Bob was a graduate of Flaget High School, class of 1955. In their 51 years of marriage, Bob and Daisy raised a family of 6 children that grew into several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob was known as a cornerstone in his community while he owned and operated Bob's Market for 21 years before going onto work at Burger's Market and driving a school bus for JCPS. Bob retired from JCPS. He was a loyal UK fan and enjoyed watching the games. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, particularly while hosting gatherings at his and Daisy's camp on the river, where all were welcome. Bob was a member of St. John Paul Catholic Church of Louisville at the time of his passing.
Visitation will take place Monday, September 26, 2022, 2 - 8pm at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. His funeral service will be held at 10 am Tuesday at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in his name.
