Robert E. Greer, Sr. went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 2, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on August 20, 1933, in East Sparta, Ohio, Bob was a graduate of Washington High School (Massillon) and a Navy veteran. On March 24, 1956, he married Helen Marie Breedlove, the love of his life and best friend. In addition to being a devoted husband and family man, Bob was an award-winning industrial photographer, known for his sense of humor, hard work, attention to detail, loyalty, and genuine concern for others. A member of the Canton Baptist Temple, Bob served as a deacon, head usher, and member of the counting team. In his free time, he enjoyed yard work, art, reading westerns, going to gospel sings, and simply spending time with family and his many friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Eldridge and Katrina Greer; an older brother, John Gilbert "Gil" Greer; and younger sister, Deanna J. Goulden. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen Marie Greer; their two sons, Robert ("Rob") Greer Jr. (Diane) and Kevin Allen Greer; grandchildren, David Greer (Danielle), Anna Payne (Mike), Stephen Greer (Becky), Hope Moore (Jonathan), Jeremy Greer, and Matthew Greer; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a legacy of love, commitment, and joy that will continue to inspire all who knew him. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Bob's life at the Canton Baptist Temple Henniger Ministry Center, where visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from
12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM with Rev. Jake Tovissi officiating. Interment will be at the North Lawn Cemetery (Canton).
