Robert Neville Hayes Jr, 75 of Sanford peacefully passed away Monday, April 28, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 2pm at Cool Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday, May 2, 2025 from 5-7pm at Cool Springs Baptist Church.
Born in Lee Co, he was a son of the late Robert Neville Hayes Sr and Jackie McFadyen Hayes. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Chris Hayes.
Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife of 50 yrs, Patricia Faulk “Pat” Hayes; children “Rob” Hayes III (Tiffany), Andrea Barker (Brent), and Mark Hayes (Ava); siblings Linda H. Thomas (Johnny), Susan H. Hager, and Joey Hayes; and grandchildren Kailey, Alston, Rider, Mason, Emma, Sailor, and Luke.
After an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force, he worked for Central Carolina Supply until 2003. The next 21 years were spent working alongside a group of amazing coworkers at Cruco Supply until he retired in 2024.
Robert enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid Duke fan and a member of the Iron Dukes for over 40 yrs. You could always find Robert on the golf course or in front of the T.V. watching the Braves or all things Duke.
