Memorial services for Mr. Robert "Paul" Hernandez will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, February 26, 2024, in the Chapel of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville, with Chaplain Robin Cooper officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Pineville.
Mr. Hernandez, 68, of Cotile, entered eternal rest on Friday, February 23, 2024, at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, LA.
Paul worked his entire life in retail management. Many may remember "Mr. Paul" who for many years managed the convenience store on Upper Third Street in Alexandria.
Paul lived the life of a true Christian. He loved his family and was always there when anyone needed him. Being a favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews, "Uncle Paul" was considered "too cool for school." He was also known to open his heart and even his home to help struggling souls.
Paul had a passion for car racing and enjoyed trips to Talladega with his wife, Lisa. He had a love for tinkering with small engines and couldn't resist the challenge of a second-hand lawn mower. His other hobbies included riding four-wheelers and gardening tomatoes. Paul will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Louise Hernandez; and two sisters, Sharon Renick and Mary Ann Hernandez.
Those left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory include his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Lisa Hernandez of Cotile; two brothers, Joe Hernandez (Bonnie) of Alexandria, and Ben Hernandez (Carol) of Trout; one sister, Judy Kirkland (Jeff) of Amarillo, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Special thanks to Dr. Harry Hawthorne for his special care of many years, and also to Dr. Gene Otuonye and respiratory therapist Kevin Spoor for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
