Robert "Bob" Houk

Robert "Bob" Houk, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023. He was the husband of Barbara (Kawalek) Houk, 79. They shared 49 years of marriage.
Born in Akron, OH, he was the son of Melvin and Myrtle Houk. A graduate of Norton High School, he went on to earn Master's degrees from the University of Akron and The Ohio State University in business and in engineering. Robert proudly served as a civil engineer at NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland working extensively on the development and refinement of The Icing Research Tunnel.
Robert was an active member of St. Augustine's and Guardian Angels churches, where he enjoyed serving as a lector. He had served as a member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Hilary's Church in Fairlawn.
Respected by all he met, Bob will be remembered for his quiet, intellectual nature. He was a loving, dedicated husband and a kind father who enjoyed the simple things in life, especially a good meal and long conversations with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Myrtle and brother, Timothy (Sally). He is survived by his wife, Barbara Houk, son, Jonathan (Megan), and his daughter, Bernadette. He enjoyed spending time with his two grandsons, Maddox Trillow (8) and Lincoln Houk (9 mos.).
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine's Catholic Church in Barberton, with the interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Akron.
