Robert Lynn Hurley

Robert Lynn Hurley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. Born on August 22, 1948, in Dallas, Oregon, Robert was the sixth of seven children born to George and Dorothy Hurley.

Rob grew up in the heart of the Willamette Valley and was a proud graduate of Albany Union High School, Class of 1966. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War as a member of the 1st Infantry Division, known as "The Big Red One."

On October 9, 1970, he married the love of his life, Reita Lanell Cowan. Together, they shared over five decades of marriage and raised five children: Carey, Jeremy, David, Daniel, and Heather.

Robert was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, and his faith was the cornerstone of his life. He lived out his beliefs with humility and purpose-serving faithfully in the local church and participating in several short-term mission trips to the Philippines, where he shared the love of Christ and built lasting relationships.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy Hurley; his brother, Leslie Hurley; and his sister, Juanita Wright. He is survived by his devoted wife, Reita; their five children and their spouses-Carey, Jeremy & Kim, David & Kaydi, Daniel & Krystal, and Heather; thirteen cherished grandchildren-Halli, Hope, Jordan, Eli, Grace, Jude, Bellagrace, Eloise, Michael, Gabriel, Isabel, Jacob, and Kylie; and his brothers-Duane, Mel, Harold, and Asa.

He is also lovingly remembered by extended family: Andy, father of Halli and Hope; Gitah, mother of Jordan; Chelsea, mother of Bellagrace; and Joe, father of Jacob and Kylie. In addition, he leaves behind a large and loving circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends whose lives were touched by his kindness and faith.

Rob will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire and guide those he loved.

A celebration of Rob's life will be held at 1:30 pm on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Abundant Life Center, located at 835 N 2nd St, Jefferson, OR 97352. All who knew Rob are invited to gather in honor of a man whose life was marked by steadfast faith, tireless devotion to family, and a heart full of love and kindness.
