Robert William "Bob" Imel

Robert William Imel (aka Bob), 90 passed away peacefully on April 16th, 2025 in his home in Norfolk, VA. He was born January 5th, 1935 in Columbus, IN to Robert Maurice Imel and Goldie Marie Kirts.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother John Wayne Imel, his Daughter Dawn Marie Imel and his children's mother Wilma Ann Goodwin. He is survived by his wife Patricia (Pattie) Rice, his son Robert Maurice Imel II, his daughters Johanna (Joy) Wayne Imel and Lee'Ann Douglas Hartford as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even a few great-great-grandchildren.
During his short illness he was visited by his daughters Lee'Ann and Joy, his eldest grand-daughter Wendi Ames, his nephew Kenny Imel (and his wife Lori) as well as many of his friends and neighbors. During the last moments of his life he was surrounded by his wife, son and many who cared deeply for him.
Bob graduated from Columbus High School in 1953 (go BullDogs) and went on to have a distinguished Twenty-Two year career in the U.S. Navy, as a Radioman and attaining the rank of Chief. After retirement from the Navy, he moved Back to Columbus to be with his dying father. After the death of his father, he moved to Virginia where he eventually met his life-partner Pattie.
Bob loved to travel, not only during his Naval Career, but his whole adult life. He would criss-cross the country visiting his brother John, nephews (Kenny and Bobby) and children who all lived in different parts of the country. He also loved to go on cruises with his beloved Pattie. But during his later years he became a home-body with his favorite pastimes being crossword puzzles, playing pool and poker. His poker buddies will surely miss losing to him as they often did.
