Robert P. "Bob" Jolie, 85, a longtime Auburn resident, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2024, with family by his side.
He was born in Worcester, one of four sons, of the late Alexander and Rita (Trudeau) Jolie. Robert was raised and educated in Auburn, graduating from Auburn High School in 1957. He continued his education at Fitchburg State College receiving a Bachelor's degree, then enrolling into the Master's program at Assumption College for a Degree in psychology. A few years later he received his Advanced Graduate Certificate from Anna Maria College.
Bob began his career as an Industrial Arts Teacher in Worcester before moving to Shrewsbury to work as a School Psychologist. He retired in 2000 after a 40-year career in education. He also served as the arts and crafts director for Worcester Academy's summer programs and taught in the law enforcement evening program at Northeastern University for many years.
In his free time, Bob had a deep love for fishing, no matter the time of year or weather, and an even greater passion for gardening. Most recently, he was a faithful communicant at North American Martyr's Parish, but at one time, he had been selected by St. Peter's Parish in Worcester to serve on the Bishop's Committee for Christian Doctrine. Bob was a member of the Shrewsbury Knights of Columbus, Adelphi Council #4181, and the Auburn/Webster Lodge of Elks #2118 in Auburn. He was deeply devoted to supporting his children's dreams, serving as Past President of the Grafton Little League while his boys played baseball and driving his daughter and her horse to Rhode Island three times a week to work with some of the top trainers in New England.
Robert leaves his beloved wife of 60 years, Elizabeth F. (McNamara) Jolie; his devoted children, Steven R. Jolie and his wife Amy of Franklin, David M. Jolie and his wife Tracy of Mountaintop, PA, and Christine E. Afful of Auburn; his five grandchildren, Spencer Jolie, Andrew Jolie, Madison Jolie, Olivia Jolie and Sophia Afful; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Jolie in 2004.

I am so very sorry to hear about Bob´s passing through a Shrewsbury Education Association retiree´s email.
Bob was a wonderful, supportive colleague through out our many years teaching at the former Sherwood Middle School. As members of the Resource Team, we spent many hours collaborating to determine the best possible programs for the students we supported. Always kind and positive, Bob had a way of putting kids, parents and staff at ease.
He will always hold a special place in my memory of the time we shared as educators in the Shrewsbury Public Schools

Bob, Peg Phillips and I enjoyed doing afternoon bus duty together for many years at the former Sherwood Middle School in Shrewsbury. We used to laugh about breathing in all the bus exhaust fumes that lingered under the school's entrance canopy as well as having snow pile high on our heads during snow storms. As a relatively new hire in the school system back then, I leaned on Bob for his very sound and always kind hearted advice. He and Peg would always check in with me in the morning because they knew I needed their support as my dad was succumbing to cancer. When Bob retired, my husband hired him to do window treatment installations for our store, Chauvin Paint and Wallpaper in Webster, MA. Both my husband and I feel very lucky and honored to have known Bob. We would like to extend our sincere condolences to his family. Bob, may you rest in peace. Dennis and Marylou Luukko
