Robert Joseph King

Robert Joseph King, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on June 27, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan.
On August 17, 1957, Robert married the love of his life, Eleonora Paluzzi, and together they built a beautiful life and raised six children. He was a devoted father to Michael (Pamela), Elizabeth (Rich VanAmburg), Mark (Mary), Matthew (Janna), Elaina (Jeff Hajduk), and Marty. Bob was also the proud grandfather of 18 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy.
Bob proudly served his country in the United States Army, a commitment that reflected his deep sense of duty, perseverance, and integrity.
A businessman at heart, Bob owned and operated two restaurants and a catering business over the course of his life. Known for his tireless work ethic, strength, and determination, he was one of the hardest-working men you could ever meet. He simply refused to quit. Through dedication and grit, he provided for his family and led by example, instilling values of responsibility and resilience.
Everyone who knew him has unique stories about him - stories so memorable they often sound unbelievable. We often joked that we should write a book called Bob Tales, because anyone who ever crossed his path would immediately understand. As one cousin put it, "I didn't even live with you guys, and I have stories!"
Above all else, Bob loved his family. They were his greatest pride and his greatest accomplishment.
He was predeceased by his mother Helena Hojinacki; his biological father Joe Kicinski; his stepfather Dominic Maffeo; and his brother Fred Maffeo. He is survived by his sister Barbara McClearen (Joseph preceded in death), along with many family members and loved ones whose lives he touched deeply.
In accordance with his wishes, the family will hold a service in Florida to recognize Bob's life. He will be laid to rest in the Sarasota National Cemetery alongside his beloved wife, Eleonora.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Calvary Chapel Gulf Coast, 20991 Three Oaks Parkway, Estero, FL 33928, on March 27, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. All are welcome.
It is impossible to fully capture the impact Bob had on everyone who knew him. He will be forever remembered as "Grandpa Bobby," held with enduring fondness and love by the beautiful family he created.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Robert's memory to Light Hill, 5160 Parrish Street Extension, Canandaigua, NY 14424. Light Hill provides loving, compassionate, specialized care for those who are terminally ill and for their families and loved ones.
