Robert R. McConnell

Robert R. McConnell, 92, of Erie, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. He was born on June 23, 1932, in Smicksburg, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Ray and Dora McConnell
After graduation, he served two-years in the Army. He worked at Erie Strayer and after retirement worked part-time at Trinity Methodist Church where he was a member. He enjoyed spending time with his family, dancing, bowling and watching his grandchildren's ball games. He was also known as the "gum man".
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Grace L. (Cribbs) McConnell whom he married on June 14, 1957, his sisters, Shirley Whitacre, Jeannie McConnell, and Carol DeVaughn, his twin brother, William McConnell, his siblings-in-law, Nick Whitacre, Gladys and Harry Johns, Velma and Blair Bleakney.
Survivors include his daughters Cindy (John) Rote, Pam (Joe) Manuella, and Brenda (Scott) Tombaugh, grandchildren, Liz (Tony), Kat, Suz (Kaylee), Brittany (Travis), Alex (Nicole), Alicia, Marianna, Hannah (Charles) and great grandchildren, Leona, Vincent, Brody, Jack, Arya, and Caden, his sisters, Jane (Frank) Schulz, Monna McMeans, Donna (Ken) Black, his brothers Alan (Pat) McConnell, and Larry (Carol) McConnell, his in-laws, Pete DeVaughn, Marian McConnell and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend gratitude to his hospice team, Melinda, Bre, Alyse, Jess and David.
Friends are invited to Trinity Methodist Church, 3952 Pine Avenue on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. for a memorial service. Burial will be private in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery.
