Robert McGinty Obituary Obituary for Robert Edward McGinty
July 5, 1927 July 4, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Robert Edward McGinty, who left us peacefully on July 4, 2025, just one day shy of his 98th birthday.
Born on July 5, 1927, Robert was a man of quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and boundless love for his family and community. His warmth, humility, and kind spirit allowed him to connect with people from all walks of life. His life spanned nearly a century of profound change, yet his values remained, honesty, integrity, and the simple joys of life.
Robert was a successful real estate attorney and a past president of the Minnesota Bar Association and Decathlon Athletic Club.
Robert served his country with distinction during World War II as General Douglas MacArthur's mapping technician, preparing critical maps for the General's daily briefings. He occasionally shared the stories of those tense mornings, working behind the scenes to ensure the Allied Forces had accurate information for their missions. His service was one of deep pride, and the discipline he learned during his time in the war stayed with him throughout his life.
An avid fisherman, hunter, and outdoorsman, Robert shared his love for nature with his three sons, taking them on countless fishing trips and teaching them the joys of hunting for deer, pheasant, and ducks. Robert was also an avid hockey player and shared the love of the game with his kids, he continued to play on competitive hockey teams into his 80s. Robert supported his daughters as they pursued their passions and dreams in swimming, softball and dancing. His advice and insights provided opportunities to bond, pass down traditions, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
Robert is survived by his high school sweetheart and loving wife of 77 years, Florence, and their children: Robert, (Vicki-former wife), Michael (Linda), Susan Spors (Michael), Russell (Belinda), and Melissa Wachutka (Alan). He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Robert (Heather), Joseph (Rene), Olivia, Katherine (Zak), Lauren (Daniel), Allison (Quintin), Caitlin (Bill), Kelly (Peter), Daniel (Michael), Edward (Carly), Ann (Joseph), Madeline (Collin) and William and 13 great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy of love and kindness.
Robert Edward McGintys life was a testament to the values he held dearduty, love, and friendship. Though he has left us, his spirit will live on forever in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A memorial service will be held at noon on Saturday, August 9th at Haven Homes, 4848 Gateway Boulevard, Maple Plain, MN 55359, where all are welcome to join in remembering Roberts remarkable life.
