Robert (Bob) William Meyer, Sr., age 77, of Liberty Hill, Texas, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. He was born on April 6, 1947, in Galveston, Texas to Bill and Dora Meyer.
Bob was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Hetty Roberts Meyer, whom he married on April 25, 1970. Hetty preceded him in death on December 23, 2021. Together, they built a loving family and shared many cherished years.
He is survived by his three children: Laura Meyer, Megan Meyer, and Rob Meyer; his brother, Steve Meyer, his wife Tara, and their daughter Emily Meyer Connery and her family; his brother, Allan Meyer, his wife Dawn, and their two children and their families, Heather Meyer Lampp and Joanna Meyer Hamrick; his cousin Don Meyer and his family; and his cousin Bill Meyer and his family; and nephews Matt Calloway and Zach Calloway. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Dora Meyer, and his sister-in-law, Janet Calloway, and her husband, Huel Calloway.
Bob dedicated 37 years to IBM as an IT Architect before retiring in March 2010. He attended Lamar Tech, the University of Texas, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 1973 from the University of Houston. He was recognized for his outstanding achievements and received several awards and letters of recognition for his work with NASA's space program. Beyond his professional life, Bob was a lifelong learner with a curious mind. He had a deep passion for astronomy, cartography, and exploring any subject that piqued his interest. He found great joy in sharing his knowledge and enthusiasm with those around him.
His commitment to service was evident through his extensive volunteer work at various churches throughout his life, beginning with Clear Lake United Methodist Church in Houston, Texas, then Georgetown United Methodist Church, and most recently, Cross Tracks Church in Liberty Hill, Texas. Bob was also a dedicated supporter of his children's activities, always willing to lend a hand.
Bob will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his cleverness, and his constant desire to make life better and easier for those he cared about. He was a loving and supportive father and husband who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
