Robert C. "Bob" Newton

Robert C. "Bob" Newton, 75, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held 11 A.M., Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwin County, Georgia, with the Rev. James Griffin officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the cemetery.
Mr. Newton was born July 18, 1947, in Virginia, to the late Paul E. & Grace Shepherd Newton. He was a 1965 graduate of Irwin County High School and earned his RPh degree from the University of Georgia in 1972. Mr. Newton worked as a pharmacist and owned and operated several local pharmacies. He was a former co-owner of Ocilla Pharmacy and was a partner in several Durable Medical Equipment supply businesses as well. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed the game and the fellowship. He formally served as treasurer and was a past president of Ocilla Country Club. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Anne Tucker Newton of Fitzgerald; children and their spouses: Robert C. "Robbie" Newton, Jr. & Alicia of Tifton, Carole Anne Rowe & Bobby of Ocilla, and Caron Pate & Don of Ocilla; grandchildren: Chandler Rowe & Blaklyn, Landon Rowe, Lilly Cushman, Jesse Cushman, Isabella Rowe, and Jonathan Newton; a great-granddaughter, Caroline Rowe; and a sister, Ann Newton Sprague of Smyrna. Several cousins also survive.
