Robert Philson Norris, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to his forever home on April 18, 2023 at the age of 64. He was born on April 23rd, 1958. He lived a life full of love, laughter, and faith.
Robert was born on April 23, 1958 in Nelsonville, Ohio, the son of the late Lawrence Norris and Olena M. (Savage) Luckett. From a young age, he had a deep love for his family, and his passion for them only grew stronger as he welcomed his grandchildren into the world, Brittany (Lane), Kenedi, Kaden, Kesten, Noah, Mya "His diamond in the rough", Jonah, Trevin "Tipr", and Mayci; his great grandchildren, Liam, Lenah, and Lynken.
Robert was a jack of all trades and a master of many, always eager to help with anything his loved ones needed. As a husband, Robert was devoted to his wife, Rita Norris, whom he loved dearly. They built a life together filled with love and joy, and their bond was unbreakable. As a father, he was kind, patient, and loving, always putting his family's needs before his own. But his true joy came from being a grandfather. He loved nothing more than playing games, telling stories, and making jokes with his beloved grandchildren. Their happiness brought him the greatest joy. Robert had a special buddy and connection with Kit Carson Gibson who shared many memories together and were always learning something new from each other. He will be missed dearly.
Robert had a unique sense of humor that could light up any room. He loved playing jokes and pranks, always with a twinkle in his eye and a mischievous grin on his face. He had a way of making everyone around him feel loved and appreciated, and his infectious laughter will be sorely missed. Robert's faith was an integral part of his life, and he found great comfort and strength in his relationship with God. He was a dedicated member of his church, Trinity Full Gospel, where he devoted his life to missionary work across the world. He had a singing ministry, singing many gospel songs with his daughter, Kelly. He was also a member of an acapella group called Truly Blessed. He served on the board for many years, volunteering his time and resources to help others and spreading kindness and positivity wherever he went.
Robert was a hardworking man, he retired in 2019 from the IBEW Hall #1105 where he worked and taught. He worked many years as a Master Electrician and later became the organizer of the Journeyman Program. In his spare time you could find Robert outdoors gardening, woodworking, fishing, hunting, or flying his plane with his loved ones.
Robert will be remembered for his loving humor, his warm heart, and his unwavering faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him. His light will continue to shine brightly through those who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
Robert is survived by his wife, Rita M. (Sims) Norris, whom he married on November 8, 1997; his children, Kelly (Scott) Taylor, Stephen (Kelly) Thompson, Jill (Mike) Sciance; his grandchildren; his great grandchildren; his sisters, Mindy (Jamie) Wisecarver, Jane (Mike) Daniels, Ethel Duda; as well as several nieces and nephews, Logan, JJ, Jamie, Brian, Joe, Trent, Brian, Heather, Michael, Jimmy, and Diana; his great nieces and nephews, Anthony, Gabby, Kolten, and Kami; his great great nieces and nephews, Ryder, Carter, and Evie.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Jim Duda; his aunt, Kay Smith; as well as his uncles, Donnie Savage and Artie Danison.
Visitations will be 11 to 1 PM on Friday, April 21, 2023 at the Trinity Full Gospel Church, 535 Munson Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio 43701. A celebration of Robert's life will be held at 1 PM. Pastor Donny Rowland will officiate the service.
