Robert Leo Ohlweiler (Bob) passed away on October 16, 2024 at the age of 87. He lived a long and wonderful life. He is survived by Laura, his wife of sixty-three years, his five children Robert (Holly), Andrea (Larry), Christopher (Shanon), Michael (Terri), and Jeffrey (Sarah) and his fourteen grandchildren Robert, Max, Kate, Ryan, Jonathan, Sara, Billy, Caroline, Madeline, Michael Jeffrey, Nicklaus, Julius, Marcus and Sanna. Above all else, Bob was a family man who always prioritized his wife, children and grandchildren.
Bob was born in Morristown, New Jersey. He went through the Mendham school system and graduated from Morristown High School. He went on to graduate from Cornell University, majoring in Industrial Labor Relations. He was a member of the Theta Xi fraternity. His fraternity provided his granddaughter Madeline with a partial scholarship when she attended Cornell for her master's degree in Human Resources. Bob's career included positions at AeroJet General, Howe Richardson Scale Company, and ITT Power Systems where he held positions in Industrial Labor Relations, Human Resources and Operations. Bob also served two years in the US Army as a Lieutenant. He was assigned to a base at Fort McArthur, California where he met Laura.
Bob and Laura raised their family in Chatham New Jersey. While Bob had a very successful career, his greatest enjoyment during those years was watching his children play various sports including baseball, ice hockey, soccer, BMX racing, gymnastics and cheerleading. Bob coached baseball for many years and also ran the Chatham Township Athletic Association.
Upon retirement, Bob and Laura lived at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia and then The Villages, Florida. Retirement consisted of traveling extensively throughout the world both by land and numerous cruises. Bob also enjoyed playing golf 3-4 times a week and watching his beloved Cardinals.
Bob will be interred in Mendham, New Jersey.
