Robert "Bob" W. Pliner, 75 of Kendall passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center, LaCrosse. He was born on October 25,1947, to Bernard and Martha (Diedrick) Pliner in Richland Center, WI. He was a member of the Hillsboro High School Graduating Class of 1965. Bob was drafted into the United States Army serving 2 tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He attended technical college obtaining a mechanic/welding degree. Bob worked at a variety of local businesses such as Walker Stainless, Mathy's Construction, and Toro. He is known to take on many odd jobs at home, fixing neighbors' tractors, lawn mowers and anything else that he might be needed for.
He enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, sharing stories with family & friends, attending car & tractor shows, deer hunting, trap shooting, gardening, nature, bird & squirrel watching, his cats, Maggie, Kevin & Smoky. Putting on the best firework show in Kendall. He especially loved the view from his garage overlooking town.
He will be remembered for his gorgeous blue eyes, his infectious laugh, and huge heart, his green Ford Truck, Massey Harris Tractor, sitting in his garage listening to music, and being one of the greatest companions, dad, papa, and friend.
He is survived by his significant other of 37 years, Constance Waddell of Kendall, children, Bobbie Jo (Tim) Dinkel of Goodland, KS, Stacie Pliner of Hillsboro, Elizabeth (Joe Poindexter) Vierck, Robert (Laurie) Waddell, Sr., Grandchildren, James Dinkel, Kennedy (Joel) Linin, Ethan (Xio), Maycie, and Ashton Vierck, Michael Vierck, Jeffrey (Sandra) Vierck, Bryer Poindexter, Dawson Poindexter, Robert (Britany) Waddell, Jr., and Dylan Waddell, Great Grandchildren, Oakley Dinkel, Ashlyn, Franklin, Leo, Amelia Vierck, Aydenn Rogers, Zech, Robert II, and Nevaeh Waddell, a brother, Larry (Kelly) Pliner, sister, Mary Shiroma, and a brother-in-law, Tyrone Johnson. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Keith, a sister, Barbara Johnson and a brother-in-law, Glen Shiroma.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2023, 11:00 AM at Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, 112 E. South Railroad Street, Kendall. Burial will be in Czech National Cemetery, S4931 County Highway H, Yuba, WI with military honors. Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Wednesday at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM and on Thursday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.
