Robert "Bob" Garvin Richardson, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 2, 2024, at McLaren Greater Lansing at the age of 87. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a private interment will be held at Oak Plains Cemetery, Shaftsburg.
Born in Flint, Michigan, on December 5, 1936, to proud parents Arthur and Viola (Scharlow) Richardson, Bob was the youngest sibling to Frederick Richardson and Louise Kolhoff, who both preceded him in death.
After graduating from Flint Central High School, Bob dedicated more than 40 years of his life to his career as a glazer, a testament to his strong work ethic and commitment to his craft. His professional life was marked by the same steadfastness and integrity that he brought to every other aspect of his life.
Bob's heart was fullest when surrounded by his family. He was a loving father to Marc (Frances) Richardson, Lynne (Rodney) Holderbaum, and Craig Richardson. His family circle grew with his marriage to his beloved wife of 38 years, Mary "Jan" (Warfle) Richardson, who predeceased him, and he embraced her children as his own: step-children Russell (Sue) Dunn, Patrick Dunn, Kurt Dunn, and Lynette Hoberek. His legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Harrell, Stephen (Sarah) Richardson, Chris (Jennifer) Richardson, Matt (Danielle) Kotowicz, Katelyn (Jeff) Adkins, Kendi Richardson (Montana Tompkins), and Kaydence Richardson. Numerous step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive him, each carrying a piece of his spirit and love.
Bob's life was characterized by his passion for the outdoors. He instilled in his children a deep appreciation for nature, teaching them the joys of fishing and sharing countless memories of hunting trips with friends and his sons. These moments in nature were not only recreational but also instilled values of patience, respect for the environment, and the importance of tranquility. Bob had a great sense of humor, which will certainly be missed by not only family but his friends and all the lives he touched.
He approached life with a rare combination of strength and gentleness, guiding his family with a steady hand and an open heart. Bob had the love of his family, the loyalty of his friends, and the beauty of the world he so enjoyed.
In remembrance of Bob, memorials are suggested to the American Alzheimer's Association and alz.org.

Bob was the WHOLE BILL OF WAX. He came in to my life at a time when my soul needed him the most. He was a great friend. I so enjoyed mornings on his porch just talking about his life adventures, tours of his home showing me all of Jans rockhounding finds and creations, and outdoor dinners telling me about the lake and how it has grown and changed over the years. He was always someone I could count on for a good laugh or smile. He took me and my
daughter in and made us feel like family on the lake. He was not my friend for long, but was one of the best friends I ever had. I will miss him so much! Especially on hot summer days.

Bob was the first neighbor I met after I purchased a cottage on Littlefield Lake.
Little did I know how many chats we would have about his history and love for the outdoors.
We had many laughs and good times over the few years I knew him.
He will be greatly missed.
