C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home - West ColumbiaRobert Garland Rowan, 58, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away on December 25, 2025. He was born on November 18, 1967, in Big Lake, Texas, to William Robert Rowan and Sandra Kay Morrell.
Robert Spent much of his childhood living overseas before returning to the United States at a young age. He grew up in West Columbia and Sweeny, Texas, and graduated from Sweeny High School as a proud Bulldog in 1986. After high school, Robert enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served in communications. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to his hometown and met the love of his life, Julie, while they were working together in Lake Jackson.
Robert and Julie were married on January 6, 1995, and made their home in Lake Jackson, where they raised their family and created countless memories that he cherished throughout his life.
Robert continued to nurture his love of travel by becoming a cross-country truck driver, allowing him to see the continental United States. He had a passion for comedy, writing, and barbecue, proudly perfecting what he called his, "world-famous hamburgers." He especially enjoyed spontaneous road trips, discovering hidden local restaurants, listening to music, and creating his own playful version of songs.
Above all, Robert's pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Julie; his children, Brittany Rowan and Cailin Rowan; his mother Sandra Rowan; his brother Thomas Rowan; and his nephew, Trey Rowan. He is preceded in death by his father William Robert Rowan.
Public viewing will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 p.m. at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia, Texas, followed by graveside service at Sweeny Cemetery.
