Bob was born and raised in St. Joseph, Missouri. He earned a B.S. Degree at St. Louis University, and then proudly served in the U.S. Army, and was part of the Nike Guided Defense Project at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
He is survived by wife of 70 years, Mary Agnes Fanning Schaefer; children, Ann Marie Shaver, Robert H. Schaefer, James Schaefer, Suzanne Schaefer, and Melissa Manwaring; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Bob attended All Saints Catholic Church, where he volunteered and cooked dinners for Senior kids. He later attended St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
Bob worked in management for Aetna Life and Casualty for 37 years. He loved gardening, and was a master gardener in Tennessee. He loved being outdoors which allowed to enjoy some of his favorite hobbies like hiking, fishing, and boating. Bob was also a scout leader, as well as an avid bridge player, tennis player, and horseshoes champion. He was a frequent volunteer in the Town of Farragut and loved to cook nutritious meals.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am April, 13, 2024 at Click Funeral Home Farragut Chapel. Hor D'oeuvres will be served.

God bless you, Mary Agnes, and your family in this time of sorrow.
Nancy and I remember visits and meals together with you and Bob. He loved talking about his gardens and and the great meals he would make with his 'Arugula' and vegetables.
We loved hearing Bob talk about his children and the good times you both had raising your family in upstate New York. Going for Brunch after Mass on Sunday. The special dance at the World Marriage Celebration where we had to sit down when they called 45 years married and you and Bob where still dancing.
We raise our goblet of bourbon and toast to "Bobs wonderful Life"!
