It is with a heavy heart and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Bhailalbhai Harmanbhai Patel, affectionately known as Bhai, who departed from this world on the 6th of October, 2025, in Austin, Texas. Born on the 1st of April, 1940, in the village of Lambhavel, Gujarat, India, Bhai's journey was marked by an unwavering commitment to his family, his profession, and his community.
Bhai's life was a testament to his intelligence, spirited nature, and analytical mind. He was a pillar of strength and wisdom to all who knew him. After earning his Masters in Engineering from St. Louis University, Bhai dedicated his career to civil engineering, serving diligently for the Middlesex County of New Jersey. His work not only reflected his expertise but also his passion for contributing to the growth and infrastructure of the community he served.
Bhai's interests were as rich and varied as the life he led. A keen intellect, he enjoyed watching "60 Minutes" and reading biographies, constantly seeking to expand his knowledge and understanding of the world. His analytical skills were not just confined to his profession; he applied them with equal fervor to investing in the stock market, where he found both challenge and reward. Despite his many accomplishments, Bhai remained grounded, often finding joy in life's simple pleasures such as eating spicy food and savoring his favorite Caffeine-Free Diet Coke.
The family was the cornerstone of Bhai's life. He is survived by his wife, Savitriben. Though he grieved the loss of his beloved son Manoj, Bhai found solace in the love and achievements of his surviving family members: his brothers Iswharbhai Patel and the late Vitthalbhai Patel, his sister Champaben Patel, his daughter Sheila Patel, his son-in-law Manish Patel, his daughter-in-law Neelam Patel, and his cherished grandchildren Naiya, Aayan, Asha, Milan, and Anjali. Each one of them carried a spark of Bhai's spirit, wisdom, and kindness.
Bhailalbhai Harmanbhai Patel's legacy is not just in the projects he built or the investments he made, but in the values he instilled and the lives he touched. He was a man who embodied the essence of a life well-lived and well-loved. As we bid farewell to Bhai, we do so with the belief that his soul has found its way to eternal peace and that his teachings and memories will continue to guide us.
In honoring Bhai's journey, we reflect upon the Bhagavad Gita's teaching that the soul is eternal and never dies. As such, while we mourn his physical absence, we celebrate the everlasting impact he has made on us all. Bhai's life was a beacon of inspiration, a narrative of a man who built more than just structures-he built a legacy of love, learning, and lasting impressions.
May his soul, in its journey towards Moksha, find the same peace and fulfillment that he brought to those around him. Om Shanti.
