Robert "Bob" Dale Smith II, age 74, of Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born on November 25, 1950, in Battle Creek to Robert and Miriam (Moore) Smith and was the oldest of nine siblings. He grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Lakeview High School. Shortly after, he proudly served in the United States Navy, stationed at Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton, Florida.
Following his service, Bob worked at the Kellogg Company, where he dedicated 37 years before retiring in 2015.
A true outdoorsman, Bob found joy in hunting, fishing, golfing, skiing, and gardening. He was a passionate supporter of his children's sports-rarely missing his daughter's softball games or his sons' ice hockey games. A loyal Detroit Lions fan, Bob held out hope every season and will surely be cheering them on from above when they finally make it to the Super Bowl.
Above all, Bob cherished time spent with family and friends. His presence, humor, and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his children: Rachael Smith of Battle Creek; Robert (Kyla) Smith of Menifee, CA; and Brad (Alyssa Evans) Smith of Battle Creek. He was a proud grandfather to Kaydyn Smith, Kayleb Smith, Knoah Andrews, Everly Smith, and Mikenna Smith. He is also survived by his siblings: Michael (Carol) Smith of Battle Creek; Kathy (Chuck) Rainier of Battle Creek; Jennifer (Bob) Cherry of Deltona, FL; Kenneth (Beth) Smith of Ludington, MI; Christine (Gus) Shoener of Battle Creek; Lori (Rob) Stickley of Kalamazoo, MI; Miriam (Steven) Smith of Medfield, MA; and Andrea (Jeremy) Buschlen of Battle Creek; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Miriam Smith; his niece, Sara Smith; and his nephew, Steven Smith.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, at 11:30 A.M., at Baxter Funeral & Cremation Service, 375 W. Dickman Road, Battle Creek, MI 49037
Robert will be interred at Fort Custer National Cemetery,
