Robert Casey Smolinski Jr., age 62, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 in Clinton Township. He was known to his friends and family as Bob. He was born June 29, 1963 to the late Robert Sr. and Jeanette Smolinski in Wyandotte.
Bob loved the peace he found in his backyard, it was his happy place. The beautiful pond he designed and built with the sounds of the water. When he saw butterflies, humming birds and dragon flies filtering around the flowers and plants along with circling the pond a smile would appear on his face. Bob found the beauty in everything. He enjoyed drawing, painting and decorating cakes. Holidays were very important to him. He spent countless hours creating his yearly Christmas decorations, that everyone would enjoy.
Bob enjoyed Karate, it was his sport of choice. One of his greatest accomplishments was obtaining a blackbelt. Bobs greatest joy in life was his family. He was a loving and devoted husband and father. He married the love of his life Michelle. He always made it a point to show her how much he loved her for 26 years. Every month for 26 years he would bring her flowers. They were each other's best friend. They loved playing cards and board games. Bob was a wonderful father to his son Joshua and daughter Emily. They were his pride and joy. When it came to his children, there was nothing he missed. From game nights to attending any event. Bob was their biggest fan!
Bob worked for 25 years at the Bloomfield Hills School District. His love for animals brought him to a job at Living Science Foundation where he had the opportunity to create many long lasting memories. He cared for and provided programs about various mammals, reptiles, parrots, and sea life habitats. Some of his favorite stories from working with the many types of animals included when he traveled to California to assist in running their ocean program, met the Detroit Red Wings players and was able to hoist the Stanley Cup over his head, and presented the tide pool program at Madison Square Gardens in New York City. After retiring he went back to work, but for the Clinton Township department of public works. He always had a smile on his face, was caring and kind to all. He had a sense of humor that always kept people laughing.
Bob is survived by his wife Michelle, children Joshua & Emily. Brothers Kyle (Lisa), Ken (Stacey) and Sister Stacy. He is also survived by his brother in law Shawn and Mother in law Charlene (the late Timothy). He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his dog and 4 legged buddy Ruckus.
