Robert "Bob" Spinetta

Robert L. "Bob" Spinetta, 86, of New Britain, passed away Saturday (August 17, 2024) at Jerome Home in New Britain. A New Britain native, son of the late James and Florence (Niedmann) Spinetta, he lived in several CT towns, was a former resident of Lake Placid, FL, and also had a summer home in the Historic Plainville Campgrounds. More recently, he lived with his sister, Geraldine Tucker in New Britain. A graduate of New Britain High School, Class of 1956, Bob operated several small businesses in the area, including The Dawg House on East Street and the former Athletic Supporter Café on South Main Street. A peacetime veteran of the US Army, he was also a former member of the Moose Club and New Britain Elk's Lodge. Bob was also an avid New York Yankees, Boston Celtics UCONN Women's basketball fan.
Besides his sister Geraldine Tucker and her husband Richard of New Britain, he leaves a niece, Susan Melluzzo and her husband Luciano; three nephews, Jeffrey Tucker and his wife Ann, Mark Tucker and his wife Lisa and Chris Tucker and his wife Rebecca; 11 grand nieces and nephews and a great grandniece.
A graveside funeral service will be held Monday (August 26, 2024) at 11:00 a.m. in Section 8A of Fairview Cemetery, 120 Smalley Street, New Britain. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 515 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Carlson Funeral Home, New Britain is assisting with arrangements.
