Robert Lee Stackhouse was born on January 24, 1937, in Denver, Colorado to Hugh and Lorene Stackhouse. Bob attended Denver Public Schools through the eighth grade. Bob's family moved to Arvada, Colorado in 1951 where Bob attended Arvada High School, graduating in 1955. Beginning at age 14, Bob worked a part time job as a caddy for King Soopers and later became a journeyman produce clerk.
Bob entered Colorado A&M College in 1955 and graduated from Colorado State University (formerly Colorado A&M) in 1959 with a B.S. in Forest Recreation. Bob enrolled in advanced Army ROTC at CSU and received his commission in August of 1959.
On June 5, 1959, Bob married the former Mary Ellen Huebner of Arvada. After serving 28 months of active military service, Bob and Mary returned to Arvada in 1962 where their daughter, Linda, was born.
Bob returned to King Soopers where he was employed for 39 years in various positions in retail, warehousing, and transportation. He retired as a truck driver in 1999.
Bob had joined the Arvada Presbyterian Church in 1954 and remained active there and was a member of the newly merged Community of Grace, a Presbyterian Church, at the time of his death.
Throughout their marriage, Bob and Mary enjoyed exploring Colorado. Bob was an avid fisherman, wetting a line wherever it looked promising-lakes, streams or oceans. Camping, RVing, and time share took them to 45 of our 50 states.
Bob passed away August 8, 2024, in Arvada, Colorado. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Lorene Stackhouse and an older sister, Eva Mae, who died in infancy. He is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Linda; brother, Jim; and nephew, Rob.
Memorial services will be held September 5, 2024, at 1:30 P.M. at the Community of Grace, a Presbyterian Church, 7755 Vance Drive, Arvada, CO 80003. Inurnment will be at Fort Logan Cemetery.
