Robert L. Timmins, Sr., 88, of Cherry Hill, New Jersey, formerly of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2024, at the New Jersey Veterans Home in Vineland, New Jersey. Born on November 7, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Robert's life was marked by dedication to his country and his family.
Robert honorably served in the US Navy during the Korean War, a period that shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of duty and resilience. After his military service, he embarked on a career as a truck driver, working for notable companies such as the Inquirer, the Daily News, and Brinks. His commitment to his work was unwavering, and he remained a proud member of the teamsters until his retirement in 1998.
Beyond his professional life, Robert was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Sally Timmins with whom he was just days shy of celebrating a remarkable 70 years of marriage. His legacy continues through his children, Debbie Raveling (Keith), Cynthia Timmins, and Robert L. Timmins, Jr. (Christina Clough); his grandchildren, Stephanie Murray (Andrew), Brian Raveling (Kelly), Monica Timmins, and Daniel Timmins; and his great-grandchildren, Brennan Murray, Claire Raveling, Colin Raveling, and Lucia Murray. His sister, Dolores Buck, along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives, will also hold his memory dear.
Robert's love for his family was the cornerstone of his life. He relished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, imparting wisdom and sharing in their joys. His role as a little league coach when he was younger showcased his leadership and his passion for nurturing young talent. An avid fan of the Eagles and Phillies, Robert's enthusiasm for sports was infectious, and his competitive spirit often found an outlet in games of golf, cards, and dominos.
Robert had a love for music and enjoyed singing and belting out a tune whenever the opportunity arose. His sociable nature made him a beloved figure in his community, and his generosity was felt by all who knew him. Robert was also an adventurer at heart, with memorable trips to Italy, Alaska, and Hawaii marking his and his wife's shared love for travel.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Bradley Funeral Home, 601 Rt 73 South and Evesham Rd, Marlton, NJ 08053. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 am, at the funeral home. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Park View Cemetery at Kirby's Mill, in Medford, NJ.
