Robert "Bob" Waldschmidt died at the age of 80 on December 20, 2025. Bob was born in Fond du Lac, WI on May 1, 1945. He graduated from Goodrich High School in 1964. In 1967, he married his wife of 58 years, Janice "Jan" Hanna.
Bob enlisted in the Army National Guard and served six years. He was also employed in the maintenance department at Wells Manufacturing Corp. where he worked for over 40 years. He retired from Walmart Distribution Center in Beaver Dam, where he was affectionately known as "Battery Bob."
For many years he was a member of trap shooting leagues, including Wescot Sportsman's Club. In retirement, he and Jan enjoyed traveling the country on his beloved Honda Goldwing motorcycle. Their adventures included Niagara Falls, Gettysburg, the Blue Ridge Mountains, Natchez Trail, out west, and many other trips. They also went on bus tours where they met a wonderful group of friends who they continued to travel with for many years. He took pride in maintaining his large lawn and vegetable garden. He adored his cat, Casey, and puppy-sitting his grand-dog, Lucy.
Bob is survived by his wife Jan; sons Kurt Waldschmidt (Melissa Lloyd) and Ken Waldschmidt (Sarah Zeatlow); and daughter Kim (Joel) Finley; grandchildren Evangeline, Violet, and Dean. He is further survived by sisters-in-law Christine Waldschmidt and Holly Waldschmidt; in-laws Dean (Carla) Hanna, Denise (Chuck) Schaumburg; God son John Totz; many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Alexia; parents-in-law Wilbert and Elaine Hanna; younger brothers James and Donald.
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:15 AM at Hope Lutheran Church, 260 Vincent St, Fond du Lac, WI. A funeral service will follow visitation at 11:30 AM with Rev. Dr. Phillip M. Enderle officiating.
