Robert was born in
Denton, Texas on July 26, 1957 to Robert Jay and Carolyn Yvette Westover. He is the eldest son of three boys. Robert graduated from Captain Shreve HS in Shreveport, LA, where he was a member of the baseball team, played tennis, the tenor saxophone and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from the University of Houston in 1983 with his BBA in Finance.
Upon graduation, he began a 30+ year career as an insurance agent and owned his agency. After leaving the insurance business he became a property manager for a 55+ community in Kingwood, which he absolutely loved. Robert enjoyed "taking care of people" and both of these jobs allowed him to do just that.
Robert began his insurance career in Kingwood, where he met Kelly, and both knew very quickly they had found their person. They married on August 6, 1994, at Kingwood Methodist Church. When he married Kelly, Robert immediately became an active parent to her nine-year-old son Nicholas. Shortly thereafter, Shelby Kaitlyn was born and rounded out the family and as Kelly would say – made them an even four.
Robert was a life long member of the Methodist Church, and the family attended Kingwood UMC and then became members of Strawbridge Methodist, where Robert was very involved and took part in many small groups and bible studies, and both of their children were confirmed.
Through out his life Robert was active in many political, community and civic activities, which included being an active member of the Republican Party, Precinct Chairman, Kingwood Rotary, Kiwanis, served on two different CAs, he served on the board for many years of KSA, Den Leader for Cub Scout 3017, played "Santa" for several Cub Scout Troops, a licensed HAM operator – Robert was always busy and believed he had much to offer his community. He loved the Houston Astros and the Texans. He also loved the three pups in the house – Gator, Addie (his rescue) and Ava. They took evening walks every night and had midnight snacks together.
Robert was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who is missed by his wife Kelly, their children, Shelby, Nicholas and spouse, Christy, his two grandchildren, Cole, and Conner. Father, Robert Jay Westover, Brothers, Philip Nolan Westover and spouse, Adriana, and Jeffrey Warren Westover and spouse, Katherine.
