Robert Wolfenden

Robert G. Wolfenden Sr, 88, of Matawan, NJ, passed away on December 14, 2023, surrounded by family.
He was born on May 14, 1935, in Jersey City, NJ to the late George and Anna Wolfenden.
On March 8th, 1958, he was married to the late Marilyn F. Wolfenden. Bob and Marilyn moved from Jersey City to Matawan in 1967.
He graduated from Lincoln High School in Jersey City and Seton Hall University with a BA in Accounting.
He served in the US Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany.
Bob worked for PSE&G as a lineman for many years and became a supervisor at the training center in Edison. He retired in 1997.
He was a member of the Keyport Matawan Elks Lodge 2030 where he loved to volunteer and was Elk of the Year for 2015.
Bob was a member of the Keyport Fishing Club for many years. He also enjoyed golfing, traveling the world with his beloved Marilyn and going to Atlantic City. He was an avid NY Giants and NY Yankees fan, holding season tickets to the Giants for many years.
Bob's home was a place where everyone was welcomed, and no one was a stranger. Family and friends meant everything to Bob and Marilyn and they loved to be surrounded by those they cared for. Bob is survived by his loving children; son, Robert G. Wolfenden Jr. (wife Diane) of Keyport; two daughters, Lisa Wolfenden Rittweger of Howell, NJ, Janine Wolfenden (Partner John) of Toms River; brother James Wolfenden (wife Kallie); sister Dorothy Costa of Orlando, FL, and sister-in-law Ann Elyse Vespoli of Nutley. Grandchildren; Patrick of Keyport, Robert III of Matawan, Kristyn (Fiance Pete) of Matawan, Erin (Husband Craig) of Hazlet, Sean of Matawan, Janine Marie (Husband Corey) of Bayville, Sabrina of Jersey City, and William of Howell. Nine great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
His family is forever grateful to his caregiver Ahmed Abu Fei for his exceptional care, treating Bob with dignity and grace until the very end.
He was preceded in death by wife of 65 years, Marilyn, son-in-law, William Rittweger of Howell, brother-in-law, George Costa of Orlando, FL, sister-in-law Yvonne Weiss of Nutley and brother-in-law Michael Vespoli of Nutley.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 17, 2023, 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at Waitt Funeral Home, Morganville, NJ.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 8:30 am, with a service starting at 9:00 am, at the Waitt Funeral Home, Morganville, NJ.
Entombment will take place in the Holmdel Cemetery and Mausoleum.
