Robert Zalarick

Robert Zalarick, 80, of Middletown, NJ, died peacefully on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Born in Passaic to John and Mary Adzima (Zalarick), he resided in Middletown for the past 35 years. A 1964 graduate of East Rutherford High School, he earned his bachelor's degree from Pace University in New York City. Robert was employed as a medical underwriter for AIG and Guardian Life for the past 25 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, an avid gardener, and an animal lover.

Robert was a good-hearted man with a large heart for his family, friends, and community. The Middletown community was the backbone of what made Robert happy each day. Whether he was running to the post office, enjoying breakfast at the local diner, or stopping into Walgreens or Home Veterinary Services, he cherished seeing familiar faces and following his daily routine. He truly appreciated the friendly neighbors and the entire Middletown community for making his days special each time he stopped out to run an errand. He valued each and every one of you.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Margaret (Kelly); two daughters, Elizabeth Zalarick of Brooklyn, NY, and Caitilin Zalarick of Weehawken, NJ; two sisters, Evelyn Hoskins of Belleville and Patricia Cardillo of Clifton; and a brother, Edward Zalarick of Florida. Robert was predeceased by two brothers, Russell and John Zalarick, and two sisters, Sophie Cosentino and Dorothy Oakley.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, March 5th at East Ridgelawn Cemetery under the direction of Allwood Funeral Home, 660 Allwood Road, Clifton, NJ 07012. The funeral procession will assemble at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Memorial donations to Home Veterinary Services, 125 Leonardville Road, Belford, NJ 07718, in Robert's name would be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
