Robin John Reash, known affectionately as Rob to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, after a life marked by dedication to his family, his faith, and his profound professional contributions. Born in Tipp City on November 13, 1958, Rob's journey was one of impact and enduring relationships, leaving a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him. Rob was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Predeceased by his parents, George Loren Reash and Janice Marie (Sampson) Reash, his memory will be honored by his devoted wife, Maryellen (Walsh) Reash; his wonderful sons, Jordan Matthew (Natalie) Reash and grandchildren William and Margot and Justin Daniel (Emily) Reash and grandchildren Cameron and Elizabeth; step-sons Anthony (Jamie) Wilson and grandchildren Sidney and Caden, Jeremy (Sara) Corna and granddaughter Grace Mary, Daniel Corna, and Steffon (Sumer) Corna and their children Silas, Sophia, and Shea held a special place in his heart.
His sisters, Laura (John) Perrine and Georgia Reash-Henz, will miss him dearly, as will his nieces and nephews, Kristin (Bobby) Dussault and their children Kourtney, Liam, Thomas and Maggie, Karl (Kristen) Rozitis and their sons Ryker and Barrett, Loren (Margo) Reash-Henz, and Haley Reash-Henz (Esther), who all adored their Uncle Rob. Dan (and Kim) Raymond, and Tod (and Linda) Raymond, Mark Selak (Casey), Terra Carr (Michael), and Beverly Carrington are Rob's cousins who will never forget him.
Rob's legacy extends to a wide circle of long-term friends and extended family who became an integral part of his chosen family. Rob's intellectual curiosity and commitment to education were evident early on. He earned his B.A. in Biology at Wittenberg University and further honed his expertise with additional training in Marine Biology and Oceanography at the Duke University Marine Laboratory. His pursuit of knowledge continued at The Ohio State University where he achieved his M.S. in Environmental Biology. This solid foundation paved the way for a distinguished career in environmental science. Professionally, Robin was the President and Owner of Reash Environmental LLC and had retired from American Electric Power after 34 years of dedicated service as Principal Environmental Scientist. His career also included roles as an Environmental Scientist for the Oklahoma Water Resources Board and as a Fisheries Intern for the Ohio EPA. His work garnered respect and recognition, as he held leadership positions with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), the Utility Water Act Group (UWAG), ORSANCO Power Industry, the Ohio Utility Group (OUG), and the North American Selenium Working Group of the National Metals Council. A member of the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) and the American Fisheries Society, Rob's influence was also felt through his extensive publications, which contributed significantly to his field. Rob's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life. As a long-term Member and Ministry Leader at All Shepherd's Lutheran Church in Lewis Center, Ohio, his steadfast beliefs were a source of strength and inspiration. His commitment to faith-based service was further expressed through his dedicated involvement with the KAIROS Prison Ministry in Ohio and as a mentor for young men through Franklin County Children's Services. An avid fisherman, Rob found joy in the serenity of nature and the excitement of the catch, equipped with his meticulously organized tackle boxes. His passion for paleontology allowed him to share the wonders of the natural world with others, especially children, fostering a sense of discovery and learning. Rob's journey on earth has come to a close, but his spirit endures in the lives of those he touched. A man of integrity, generosity, and unwavering faith, Robin John Reash lived a life that exemplified the values he held dear. He will be profoundly missed and forever remembered. Robin's family will host a memorial service at All Shepherd's Lutheran Church on December 19, 2025, at 4:00p.m.
