Rodney Allan Burbank II, a lifelong resident of St. Charles, passed away unexpectedly at his home, on October 14, 2025, at the age of 58.
Rod was born on January 2, 1967, the only son to Rodney Burbank I and Sandra (Pearce) Train in Saginaw, Michigan. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1985, and started his lifelong career as a painter. He dedicated over 25 years at Larkin's Painters in Saginaw, and continued his painting career at CIGNYS in St. Charles. He worked most recently at TPI as a machinist. Rod spent the last 8 years with his beloved fiancé, Shelley. Together they enjoyed the little things in life, and you could always find them laughing together.
Rod was a devoted father to his only son, Nathan, whom he loved and cherished. He was especially proud of Nathan for serving his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed sharing his passion of fishing and hunting with Nathan. Rod was a very successful hunter, with many trophy bucks to show. He also enjoyed duck, bear, and elk hunting. He was a morel mushroom enthusiast, who had a knack for spotting them from a mile away, he and Shelley enjoyed mushroom hunting together and cooking up their finds. Rod was a phenomenal cook who specialized in his charcoal grilling skills. He was a great conversationalist and would effortlessly be able to talk to anyone, about anything, and would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. Rod's quirky sense of humor never failed to make people laugh and smile. He appeared tough on the outside, and could swear like a sailor, but on the inside, he was incredibly intelligent, loving, kind, and considerate. He will be missed by all who got the chance to know him.
Rodney is survived by his fiancee, Shelley Slivinski; son, Nathan Burbank; step children, Danielle O'Dette, Sarah (Miguel) Luna, Jenni Slivinski; and Aimee Slivinski; grandchildren, Bentley, Ayden, Elijah, and Adeline; Aunt, Linda Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney Burbank I and Sandra Train.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2025 from 4:00pm - 8:00pm at the Saints Snowmobile Club in St. Charles, 8230 S Fordney Road, St. Charles, MI 48655.
