Rodney Franklin Eidson

Rodney Franklin Eidson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, peacefully departed this life on August 30, 2025, at the age of 72. Born on May 16, 1953, in Carrollton, Georgia, Rodney embraced life with a passion that was evident to all who knew him.
He was a graduate of Carrollton High School, class of 1971, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by hard work and determination. A devoted welder, he dedicated many years of his working life to Kilgore Construction, the Coweta County Board of Education, and the Fayette County Board of Education, where he left a mark of craftsmanship and pride.
He cherished riding his motorcycle, meticulously assembling model cars, and embracing time spent with family and friends.
Rodney's spirit shone brightest during moments spent with his family. He adored his wife, Vivian Eidson, and was a proud father to John Robert Eidson and his wife, Brandy, Matthew Franklin Eidson, as well as his late son, Thomas Rodney Eidson. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Kaitlyn and L.J. Eidson, and his great-grandchild, Leland Sims, who brought him endless joy and happiness. Rodney is also survived by his loving sisters, Arlene Berryhill, Julia Cotton, and Cheryl Cowart.
In addition to his son, Thomas, Rodney was preceded in death by his parents, Arlin Alvin Eidson and Etheleen Griffin Eidson; sisters, Mable Chatham and Donna Eidson; and brothers, Michael Eidson, Alvin Eidson, and Joe Eidson.
A funeral service to celebrate Rodney's life will take place on September 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the Martin & Hightower Funeral Home. Prior to the service, friends and family are invited to gather for visitations at the funeral home on September 3, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, and again on September 4, 2025, from 1:00 PM until the time of the service.
Rodney Franklin Eidson will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those he loved.
