Roger D. Baney, 78, of Wayne Township, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on October 16, 2025, following complications from surgery.
Born in Ellwood City on December 14, 1946, Roger was the son of the late Robert Sr. and Mary Matheny Baney. He married the former Sharon “Shari” Snider on May 17, 1969. Roger was a 1964 graduate of Riverside High School and a Veteran of the US Army. He was a retired supervisor for Liberty Mutual and currently served as the Deputy Tax Collector for Wayne Township. Roger was a member of the New Life Baptist Church in New Wilmington. He was also a member of Challenges in Ellwood City, Castle Hills Golf League and the Kopple Big Beaver Sportsman’s Association.
Surviving are his wife, Shari Baney of Wayne Township, his two sons and daughters-in-law, Brent and Kim Baney of Ellwood City and Ryan and Roberta Baney of New Wilmington, two sisters, Rosemary Szakelyhidi and Rebecca Long and a brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Dorothy Baney, all of Ellwood City and thirteen grandchildren; Justin (Sarah), McKinley, Emileigh, Abree, Kristen, Ella, Tom, Max, Malia, Kyla, Ezra and Ida Baney and Rachel (Matt) Macias.
Friends will be received on Sunday, October 19th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Joseph A. Tomon, Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory, 97 Grim Avenue, Ellport. A funeral service will directly follow the visitation at 7:00 PM with Pastor Warren Sullivan of New Life Baptist Church, celebrant.
Private interment will take place in Holy Trinity Community Cemetery, Koppel.
