Eldora Joyce Borger

Eldora Joyce Borger, age 79, of New Castle, PA, passed away the evening of May 8, 2025, at Avalon Care Center.
Born Aug. 16, 1945, in New Brighton, PA, she was the daughter of that late Roy E. and Ellen (Agnew) Pander.
On Aug. 31, 1968, she was married to her beloved husband of 54 years, Gary E. Borger. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 2022.
Eldora was a student in the first graduating class at Riverside High School. She retired from the PA State Welfare Office, where she worked as a case worker, for several years. After her retirement, she worked as a tour guide employed with Breakaway Tours.
She was a gifted artist. Sewing, embroidery, painting, and chalk art, were some of Eldora's many interests and talents. She was very active in Samaritans Purse – Operation Christmas Child. Eldora attended First United Brethren Church.
Survivors include her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Susan (Ralph) Polding, Don (Nancy) Borger, both of New Castle, PA, Karen Meyers, of Grand Rapids, MI, and Pat Pander of New Brighton, PA; niece Heather (Brian) Miller, great niece and nephew, Angelia and Jaron Miller; and several other nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Eldora was preceded in death by a son, Nate Borger, and her brother, Melvin Pander.
Visitation will be held on Thurs. May 15th from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation at 6:00 PM with Pastor Marc Stephenson.
Burial will be alongside her husband at Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
