SALEM, NEW HAMPSHIRE-Roger W. Culliford, 84, a resident of Salem Woods, passed away on September 22, 2023 at his eldest daughter's residence in Maine. He was born April 19, 1939, a son of Grace (Carpenter) and Sydney B. Culliford Sr.
Roger grew up in Massachusetts and graduated from a trade school for Photography. On June 22, 1973, he married Maureen (Hamel). Roger was employed as an industrial photographer for Western Electric, and later for Lucent before his retirement. Roger had a passion for civil service and was a Lt. firefighter in West Newbury, MA. He also served as a paramedic in Hampton, NH, and was a part-time deputy sheriff for Rockingham County. Roger was also a talented photographer, capturing anything from weddings to high-profile forensic cases.
He enjoyed assembling model cars and trains and was meticulous in keeping a tidy property. Roger had a good sense of humor and will be remembered for his charming and compassionate personality.
Roger was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Maureen Culliford; and his siblings, Sydney Culliford Jr., and Eleanor Whiting.
Roger is survived by his loving daughters, Meredith Corso and her husband Chuck, BethLee O'Neil and her husband Michael, son, Paul Nerney and his wife Carol; five grandchildren, Erin, Matthew, Tristan, Tyler, and MirandaLee; and a great-grandson Kye Lee.
A private service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Roger's name may be made to: Hampton Firefighters Charitable Organization, 140 Winnacunnet Rd., Hampton, NH 03842, or West Newbury Fire Department 403 Main St., West Newbury, MA 01985. Arrangements have been entrusted to Plummer Funeral Home, 16 Pleasant St., Augusta, ME 04330.
