Roger Moyes Fry took his last trip on December 10, 2025. The journey was peaceful, with his family by his side. Along the way, he laid down his pain and soared to heaven.
Born in Freeport, Pennsylvania, Roger was the only child of Agnes Moyes Fry and Robert Merle Fry. He pursued higher education with dedication, graduating from Westminster College and later Penn State, where he earned his degree in civil engineering. His professional path brought him to Wilmington, North Carolina, where he served as Water Superintendent. He later concluded his distinguished career as Physical Plant Director at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, retiring after years of committed service.
Before settling in Wilmington, Roger married the love of his life, Joan Baranak. Together, they built a life rooted in family, faith, and shared experiences. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind his three children: Robert Martin Fry and his wife Sarah of Baltimore, Maryland; Anne Fry and her husband Curtis McCormack of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and Susan Mondeau and her husband Derek of Richmond, Virginia. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Robert Marshall and Elizabeth Fry, and Fisher and Jeremiah Mondeau.
An avid traveler, Roger visited every continent and nearly every state in the United States, embracing the beauty and diversity of the world. Joan often accompanied him on the journeys that captured her heart. Roger had a deep appreciation for God’s creation and found joy in praising Him for its wonders. He also had a lifelong love of golf and approached both travel and life with the belief that “it wasn’t the destination, it was the journey.”
Roger will be remembered for his curiosity, his faith, his love of family, and the steady, thoughtful way he moved through the world. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched and the paths he traveled with purpose and gratitude.
