It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Paul David Yocum (PD) on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born May 4,1946, in Warren, to Paul John and Mildred Jacobs Yocum. Paul had 3 siblings: Donald (Loretta) Yocum, Richard (Ginger) Yocum and Patty (Terry) Baker along with sister-n-law Cherie Jones. Paul was a lifelong educator, athlete, coach, and family man.
Paul was a 1964 graduate of Champion High School where he excelled academically and athletically in basketball, baseball, track and cross country. Paul continued his academic career by receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Hiram College, his Master of Education degree from Westminster College and his Superintendent's degree from Ashland College.
Paul began his teaching and coaching career at Howland High School. He spent most of his teaching career at Champion High School. Paul went on to serve as principal in several area high schools, assistant superintendent at Lake County ESC, and retiring as superintendent from Cardinal Local School District.
His passion for education, coaching and leadership touched many lives by coaching countless little league baseball and youth basketball teams during his 3 sons early athletic careers.
His love for Jesus Christ as his personal Savior led him to serve in many capacities of ministry throughout the years as elder, Sunday school teacher, bible study teacher and a leader in the Kairos Prison Ministry for the last 17 years.
Paul married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Jacquelyn Fiest Yocum in 1967 and are the proud parents of 3 sons, Bradley (Andrea) Yocum, Todd (Traci) Yocum, Mark (Jennifer) Yocum, 10 grandchildren, Briana (Brian) Juart, Caitlin (Dan) Linger, Emily (Kevin) Holland, Harold (Ruby) Yocum, Abigail (Jameson) Morigeau, Natalie Yocum, Kelsey (Braydan) Dobney, Madelyn Yocum, Lindsey Yocum, Olivia Yocum and 5 great grandchildren, Jameson Juart, Tate Linger, Barrett Juart, Clyde Yocum and Paul Morigeau.
As a grandfather, Paul found immense pride and joy in his grandchildren and great grandchildren while watching all their achievements academically, athletically and in performing arts. He will always be remembered by them with his quiet strength and warm support.
To those who knew him, Paul was steady, humble, and deeply kind. Offering words of wisdom, cheering from the sidelines, and lending a helping hand. He lived a life of quiet, enduring strength and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
There will be a PRIVATE celebration of Paul's life at Carl W. Hall funeral home.
