Roger Gibson Obituary
He was born in Cooperative, Kentucky on February 24, 1950, the son of James and Vernia (Henry) Gibson and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1969.
Roger served his country faithfully and honorably in The United States Navy and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Prairie in San Francisco.
He worked for General Motors until his retirement, starting at Muncie Chevrolet, then moving to Delco Battery and finally with Guide Lamp of Anderson.
He was a member of Delaware Masonic Lodge #46 F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis and York Rite Valley of Indiana.
Roger loved to travel. He also enjoyed gem mining and jewelry making.
Survivors include his loving wife of over fifty-two years, Karen Gibson; his children, Shawn Cotton (Mike), Nikki Gibson and James Gibson (Karla); his grandchildren, Laureen, Gage, Deven, Megan, Hayden, Jasmine, Katelyn, Brianna, James Jr. and Braxton; six great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Tomey (Randy); brother-in-law, Ronnie Strong; along with several nieces and nephews.
Roger was preceded in death by his son, Roger James Gibson; a brother, James Gibson Jr., sister, Judy Strong, niece, Carolyn Strong; and his parents.
Services will be 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery with Military Rites provided by The United States Navy and the Veterans of Delaware County.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the mortuary.
