Rollin Lewis "Pete" Lennington, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025, at the age of 92. He was born on January 29, 1933, to the late Joseph Brandon Lennington and Vera Marie Timmons.
Pete graduated from Yorktown High School in 1951, where he laid the foundation for a life defined by hard work and craftsmanship. Following his education, he proudly served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954, a testimony to his strong character and sense of duty. Once his military service concluded, he began a longstanding career as a Tool and Die Maker at Yorktown Tool and Die, later transitioning to Delco Remy in Anderson, where he continued to contribute his talents until his retirement.
Known for his incredible skills in metal and woodworking, Pete was a master craftsman who took great pride in his work. Pete enjoyed watching IU basketball games with his children in early years. Beyond his professional life, Pete cherished the great outdoors. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and trapping. His passion for fishing provided him solace and joy, allowing him to connect with nature in the most rewarding ways. His love for adventure extended beyond hobbies; after retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling to Florida during the winter months. Following her passing, Pete made Florida his permanent home, where he reveled in the sun and embraced the outdoor lifestyle he so deeply loved.
Throughout his life, Pete remained committed to staying fit. Even well into his 60s, he maintained an active lifestyle, often found jogging or running. When circumstances no longer allowed him to run, he adapted by riding his three-wheeled bike into his 90s, embodying a remarkable spirit of resilience and vitality.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Tom Lennington of Daleville; sisters, Paula Lennington of Yorktown, Jeri Whitlow of Texas, and Kay Reed of Anderson; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Joyce; daughter, Delisa Highley; and brother, Daniel Joe Lennington.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Daleville. You may express condolences or share a memory of Pete at www.ballardandsons.com.
