Ron Vande Kieft, age 66, of Kirkville, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. He was born on July 23, 1958, in Oskaloosa the son of Marion and JoAnn (Rooy) Vande Kieft. He attended Pella Christian High School and graduated with the Class of 1976. He furthered his education at William Penn University and later received his CDL from Indian Hills Community College.
He was a member of the Christian Motorcyclists Association and attended the Kirkville Community Church. In his retirement, Ron enjoyed hunting, gardening, being outdoors and riding his motorcycle.
Ron is survived by his children, Shawn (Hillary) Vande Kieft of Pella, Cory (Abbi) Vande Kieft of Pella and Ethan Vande Kieft of Oskaloosa; his grandchildren, Elijah, Gideon, Noah, Silas, Ephraim and Micah Vande Kieft; 2 sisters, Arlene Meinders and Marilou (Bruce) Schiebout and a brother-in-law, Pete Fynaardt.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Joann Fynaardt and a brother-in-law, Bruce Meinders.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa, Iowa with Pastor Phillip Morrison officiating. Burial will take place following services in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, from 4-6 p.m. at the Bates Funeral Chapel with Ron's family present to greet relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to fund his memorial. For those desiring, contributions can be made to Ron's family.
