Ronald Simon Bernecky

Ronald Simon Bernecky, age 83 of Smyrna, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025. A celebration of life service will be held 11AM Thursday, October 23, 2025, in the chapel of Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna. Mr. Bernecky was preceded in death by his parents Sam and Gladys Bernecky and his brothers William and James Bernecky. He is survived by his wife Sharyn Bernecky, daughters Shari Leigh Early of Savannah and Melissa Gayle Borland (Jim) of Clemmons, NC, brother Raymond Charles Bernecky (Susan) of South Fork, PA, sisters Gladys "Jenny" Everett of Dalzell, SC and Judy Bernecky Kittell (William) of Knoxville, TN, and grandchildren Haylie Bethany Bernecky, Jacob Robert Borland (Mary Dru), Mary Abigail Borland, Alexander Jonathan Early, and Benjamin Ronald Early.
Ronald was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Central Cambria High School in 1959. Following his graduation, he proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1966, working as a laboratory technician in Montana, England, Turkey, and Lubbock, Texas. In June of 1966, Ronald married Sharyn, and the following year they made their home in Georgia. A devoted father and mentor, Ronald spent many years coaching his daughters and numerous softball teams at Jonquil Park. After a long and fulfilling career with Roofing and Insulation Supply, he retired in 2011, cherishing his later years traveling with his beloved wife and embracing his greatest role of all-being "Papa" to his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in his name.
There will be a reception in the celebration center at the funeral home following the service. Carmichael Funeral Home in Smyrna is in charge of arrangements.
