Ronald Bolek, age 79, passed away peacefully on October 28th, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Known to many as a hero, a mentor, and a friend, Ronald was a man of faith, kindness, and enduring strength. Born on August 1st, 1945, in Chicago, Illinois, he spent his life dedicated to his family, his work, and his beliefs, serving as an inspiration to everyone who knew him.
Ronald was a devoted husband to his late wife, Diane, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage, creating a beautiful home filled with laughter, happiness, and love. Together, they raised three sons-Ronald, James, and Andrew-who carry forward his legacy of love, resilience, and integrity. He was not only a father to his sons but also a friend, guiding them through life with wisdom, humor, and an unshakeable work ethic.
Throughout his life, Ronald was admired for his dedication to hard work and providing for his family. He retired from the Tinley Park Public Works Department. Outside of work, he loved the outdoors and spent countless hours treasure hunting with his beloved metal detector, often alongside his siblings. He also enjoyed many years of fishing, boating, and family fun on beautiful Lake Koshkonong at the family cottage in Edgerton, Wisconsin. Ronald was an avid reader who maintained newspaper subscriptions throughout his life, staying informed and thoughtful about the world around him. He kept a rock-solid routine, always finding order through notes, reminders, and checklists. He brought joy to those around him with his charm, wit, and a unique sense of humor that was often wonderfully offbeat.
He will be deeply missed by his sons Ron, Jim, and Andy; his daughters-in-law Sue, Tara, and Rachel; his grandchildren Audrey, Courtney, Brandon, Dan, Nate, Trenton, Chase, and Ziana; his siblings; and the many friends and neighbors whose lives he touched. Ronald's gentle spirit and warm heart will live on in the countless memories he created with those who loved him.
A memorial service in celebration of Ronald's life will be held at St. Damian Church in Oak Forest, Illinois, at 10am on Friday November 15th, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made on Ronald's behalf to the American Cancer Society as a tribute to his generous heart.
Dad, you will forever be in our hearts, our thoughts, and our prayers. We love you, and we find comfort in knowing that you are reunited with Mom. May your eternal life together be filled with new and everlasting love. Please watch over us and continue to bless us with your warmth and love.
