Ronald L. Burkhart, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 18, 1936, in Reading, PA, Ronald was a proud graduate of Governor Mifflin High School in 1954 and furthered his education at the Reading Business Institute, where he earned a Higher Accounting Diploma from 1957 to 1959.
An honorable veteran, Ronald served in the United States Navy, reaching the rank of SK2PO, and he proudly fulfilled his service until his honorable discharge in 1962 after eight years of dedication.
Professionally, Ronald began his career as a junior accountant with F.W. Jung, CPA, before transitioning to a long and rewarding tenure at Met-Ed, GPU Service, and GPU Nuclear. He served as an account manager for 32 years, showcasing his commitment and expertise until his retirement in 1994.
Ronald's journey in life was enriched when he met his beloved wife, Sandy, in 1957. Their love blossomed quickly, culminating in a beautiful marriage just six months later on February 1968. Together, they shared an incredible 62 years of marriage, built on a foundation of mutual respect and love. Ronald cherished ballroom dancing with Sandy, creating cherished memories that will linger on in the hearts of their loved ones.
As a man of many interests, Ronald enjoyed reading about the American Civil War and spent hours in the yard tending to his garden. He relished the thrill of watching sports, particularly cheering for Penn State Football, the Philadelphia Phillies, and the Philadelphia Eagles. His hobbies, which included throwing darts in his younger days, further showcased his vibrant spirit and zest for life.
A proud member of Bellemans Church, Ronald held his faith close to his heart, embodying the qualities of kindness and generosity throughout his life. He celebrated his family, leaving behind four children: Cheryl A. Reinert, wife of Donald, Wendy J. Nelson, fiancé of Jim Hammer, Jr. , Mitch A. Burkhart, husband of Deanne, and Rhonda L. Reibsane, wife of Eric J. Ronald was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, with whom he shared countless joyful moments.
In addition to his immediate family, Ronald was preceded in death by his loving wife, Sandra F. Burkhart, parents John J. and Katie B. (Bowman) Burkhart, and siblings Warren E. Burkhart, Arlene Wise, and Lorraine F. Impink.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Schyulkill Valley Food Pantry, 102 Apple Street, Leesport, PA 19533.
A visitation to honor Ronald will be held on August 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM at Milkins Trymbiski Funeral Home, located at 4914 Kutztown Road, Temple, PA 19560. Ronald L. Burkhart will be remembered fondly for his warmth, love for family, and the indelible mark he left on all who had the privilege to know him.
