Ronald Johnsen Obituary
BEVERLY – Mr. Ronald L. Johnsen passed away on Friday, March 8th, 2024 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House. Born in Beverly, he was the beloved son of the late Lars and Matilda (O'Connell) Johnsen.
With a heart as big as his love for antique treasures, Ronald lived a life full of passion and purpose. Graduating from St. John's Prep, he pursued education fervently, obtaining his bachelor's degree from Providence College, Master's Degree in education from Harvard University, and Master's Degree in mathematics from Tufts University.
As an educator at Kennett High School in North Conway, NH, Ronald found not only a fulfilling career but also his beloved wife, Anne. With grace and dedication, he also shared his knowledge at Winchester High School before embarking on a new journey as an antique dealer. This transition allowed him to spend precious time with his young daughter and his parents. His daughter will forever remember the many hours spent playing basketball and softball, as well as many outdoor adventures - activities that he would later share with his treasured grandsons.
Ronald was an avid hiker, who completed many hikes in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, as well the mountains of Colorado, Montana and California. He traveled extensively throughout his life, and loved competing with his wife regarding the number of countries and states visited. One of his favorite trips included a visit to Norway, the birthplace of his father, where he was captivated by the natural beauty of the Norwegian fjords. A true sports enthusiast, he cheered for the Red Sox, Celtics, and Providence Friars. He also found joy in artistic pursuits, which included his talent for drawing. Ronald was fascinated by polar exploration, and read many books about the voyages of explorers such as Sir Ernest Shackleton and Roald Amundsen.
Known for his kindness, humility, and knack for weaving captivating stories with his irreverent sense of humor, Ronald was a beacon of light in the lives of those around him. His environmental advocacy and dedicated volunteering at Beverly Bootstraps showcased his unwavering commitment to serving his community.
In celebrating the life of Ronald L. Johnsen, we honor a man whose legacy of love, laughter, and learning will forever be remembered. May his memory be a blessing to us all.
He is survived by his daughter, Rachel (Johnsen) Blanchette; son-in-law, Caleb Blanchette, and their two children, Jakob and Mason Blanchette, all of Danvers. He also leaves behind many beloved extended family members and dear friends.
ARRANGEMENTS: Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours which will be held at O'Donnell Cremations - Funerals - Celebrations, 167 Maple St., (Rte. 62) DANVERS on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024 from 5 to 7 P.M.
