Ronald Lee Kershner, 86, of Westminster, MD passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025 at Carroll Lutheran Village.
Born on April 9, 1939 in Hagerstown, MD, Ronald was the son of the late Harold "Gene" and Helen (Carbaugh) Kershner, and husband to the late Carol Lee Kershner, who predeceased him on February 13, 2025. He is also predeceased by grandson, Oliver Hartley Kershner.
Ronald grew up in the town of Security, just outside of Hagerstown, MD. He earned a bachelor's degree from Bridgewater College, and a master's degree in social work from Virginia Commonwealth University. For the bulk of his career, he was a social worker and administrator at Springfield Hospital Center. After retiring from Springfield, he worked as a counselor and psychotherapist. He book-ended his professional career with volunteer work as a youth mentor at Big Brothers/Big Sisters, and Arc of Carroll County. In retirement, he was a dedicated gardener, an enthusiastic and frequent traveler, and a co-host with his wife of countless social gatherings.
Ronald is survived by children, Amy Lauren Kershner and Joseph Hartley Kershner and wife, Dawn; grandchildren, Lilybee Wilcox, Henry Wilcox, and Emmett Kershner; and sister, Jeanne Renner.
The family will welcome friends on Sunday, September 28, 2025 from 1 to 2pm at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster, MD. A memorial service will follow beginning at 2:00pm.
