Ronald Rodney McGehee
July 14, 1956 – July 3, 2025
Ronald Rodney McGehee, 68, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on July 3, 2025, in his hometown. Born on July 14, 1956, in Atlanta, Rodney spent his life rooted in the community he loved.
Rodney was a skilled mechanic, machinist, and welder who took great pride in his work and had a true passion for understanding how things worked. Whether he was fixing an engine, fabricating parts, or lending a hand in the shop, his talent and dedication spoke for themselves.
Outside of work, Rodney found joy and peace in fishing-a pastime that brought him closer to nature and to God. He also had a deep love for softball, not only as a player but also as a coach, where he shared his knowledge and love for the game with others. Whether he was on the field or in the stands, he brought energy, enthusiasm, and encouragement to every game.
A man of deep faith, Rodney loved Jesus and was known for his constant prayers for family and friends. He carried a lively spirit and a big heart, always ready with a kind word, a good story, or a helping hand.
Rodney was a devoted and loving uncle and great-uncle. His nieces and nephews cherished his presence in their lives, and his steady love and encouragement will be remembered always.
Rodney is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph McGehee Sr. and Betty McGehee, and his brother, Michael McGehee. He is survived by his brother Ralph McGehee Jr. (Anne), his sister Christy Ellison (Kevin), and many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
His legacy of faith, kindness, and devotion to family lives on in all who knew and loved him.
A memorial service will take place at McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory in Cumming, GA on Saturday, August 9th at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Rodney's church, Free Life Church in Winder, GA. https://freelife.church/give.

Our family is truly sorry to hear of Rodney´s passing. Our son, Mason, always admired him and became a buddy of his. Although our message is a little delayed, we wanted the family to know that Rodney treated us like his family and he was always welcome in Union Point. He will be missed this upcoming hunting season as he always made it a point to come down when he could and camp out in the field. We enjoyed visiting with him when he was visiting. God bless you all and a contribution is being sent to his church on behalf of our family.

Sincerely,
Jeff and Becky Cronic, Ali and Shane Bell

Rodney (aka The Pear) was a great friend of mine. I´ve known him for over 50 years. When Pear and I were together there was going to be laughing. We shared many adventures together . He was responsible for getting me started in what became passions of mine. Hunting and fishing. I have so many memories of us together. He will be missed greatly! Rest in peace my friend.
