Ronnie Pedrow, age 77, of Garnett, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at his home.
Ronald Alvie Pedrow was born on September 17, 1947, on the family farm near Lane, Kansas. He was the second of three children born to Duane F. and Mamie Maxine (Pitts) Pedrow. He grew up in the Richmond area, attending school there until it closed, and he then completed high school at Greeley, graduating with the class of 1965. Following graduation, Ron worked at the Sunflower Ammunition Plant in DeSoto, Kansas. He was a proud Vietnam veteran, serving two years in the U.S. Army. He served one tour in Vietnam and was honorably discharged in October 1968. After being questioned about smoking by his granddaughter, Ronnie replied, "I fought for my freedom, I can do whatever the hell I want...except smoke inside the house".
After returning from the service, Ron returned to working in DeSoto. He later began working at Taylor Forge in Paola and then became a union pipefitter, a career that took him to numerous states. In 1970, he and his wife moved to Greeley, Kansas, where they lived until they purchased their farm east of Garnett in 1976.
He was united in marriage to Kathryn "Kay" E. Stifter on September 17, 1966, at St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley, Kansas. This marriage was blessed with four children: Jeff, Christina, Brian, and Kim.
Ronnie had a deep love for many things in life: coon hunting, dancing, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren (his kids will tell you that he loved them more than his own children). He enjoyed riding his tractor, visiting with friends, playing ten-point pitch, attending family reunions, and watching the chuckwagon races in Arkansas. He also had a special fondness for his team of black Percheron horses.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Mamie Pedrow.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Pedrow, of the home; his children, Jeff and Teresa Pedrow, Chris and Donnie Miller, Brian and Shana Pedrow, and Kim and Jeremy McAdam; eleven grandchildren, Chrystal, Cylee, Katie, Chance, Lexi, Adri, Walker, Grace, Ellie, Zane, and Remi; and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Duane and Bonnie Pedrow, and Mamie and Jerry Sommer, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. Burial will follow in the Berea Cemetery. Ronnie's family will greet friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
