Ron Regar, a Lancaster Original, Dies at 82

Ronald James Regar, 82, formerly of Lancaster, PA, passed away on March 7, 2026, surrounded by family.

Born on June 7, 1943, he spent most of his life in Lancaster. As a boy and young man, he was mischievous and full of life, a natural prankster whose humor and playful spirit stayed with him throughout his life.

While attending J.P. McCaskey High School in Lancaster, he excelled in sports, especially baseball. Ronnie, a pitcher by the age of about eight, developed his love for baseball in the Midget Midgets league coached by his father.

His mom often spoke of his clever mind and ability to do just about anything he set his mind to. Ronnie would grin, claiming he never studied or did homework outside of school. After graduating from McCaskey in 1961, he proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.

In 1970, he began his career with Turkey Hill Minit Markets as a store manager and, through dedication and innovative thinking, rose quickly through the ranks to Vice President, spending nearly three decades shaping all areas of the company.

After retiring in his 50s, he earned his commercial real estate license and enjoyed his remaining semi-working years at LMS Real Estate.

Ron and his wife, Deborah (Hurst) Regar, of nearly 35 years, shared a love of travel, visiting Bali, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Ireland, Tahiti, and Hawaii, among other places. Debbie lovingly cared for him at home for the past six years.

His hobbies included years of recreational volleyball, hundreds of rounds of golf at Conestoga Country Club, where he was a member, and creating lasting memories with his family.Another of his true passions was the great outdoors. He treasured his time at the Blanchard Ranch hunting camp. Known to all there as "Buck", he took pride in caring for the land, planting acres of food plots to feed the deer, and enjoying cold beer with friends. For him, it was about more than hunting; it was about tending the land, observing wildlife, and sharing those experiences with his camp friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Earl Regar and Anna Mae (Shopf) Regar.

Ron is survived by his wife, Deborah; his daughter, Jennifer (Regar) Paul, and her husband, Robert G. Paul, along with their children Amanda, Robby, Sami, and Charlie; his son, Rustin J. Regar, and his wife, Eileen (Carroll) Regar, with their children Logan and Kole; and his brother, Richard E. Regar and his wife Charlene (Wanner) Regar. Also surviving are his stepdaughter, Elizabeth (Bouzarth) Foster, and her husband, Steven C. Foster, and their children William and Owen; his stepson, Brian W. Bouzarth; his wife, Rona (Frey) Bouzarth; and their children, Blaire and Alex.

Whether you knew him as Ron, Dad, Ronnie, Buck, or Pop the Pig, we will all miss his mischievous antics and love of making everyone laugh with his crazy stories of growing up as Ronnie.
