Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” Edward Stewart, a beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at the age of 77.
He was born March 25, 1946 in Humphreys County to Edward Ollie Stewart and Eva Pauline McCaleb Stewart. Ronnie, also known as Pork Chop or Zeus by his friends and co-workers, was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Tennessee Valley Authority where he worked 33 years to provide for his family until he retired. He was a member of Trace Creek Baptist Church in New Johnsonville, TN.
Ronnie loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his four legged great-grand child. His unwavering love for his family was evident in every aspect of his being. He was an outdoorsman who found pleasure in huntin', fishin' and lovin' everyday; the simple things in life. Ronnie would often find solace casting a line, turkey hunting, or roaming the woods with his granddaughter Isabella, deer hunting. Ronnie was the epitome of love. A wonderful husband, and father, a faithful friend, and the kind of grandfather that drops off and picks up the grandkids from school everyday. The gentle grandfather that doesn't get mad when his granddaughter backs his pickup truck into a brick wall. He was the best. His passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Janice "Gail" Stewart;
three daughters: Shea Breeden of Waverly, Ashley Bates of New Johnsonville, and Allison Stewart of Waverly;
three grandchildren, Tyler Breeden (Brianna Harvey) of Waverly, Dylon Breeden (Payton Williams) of Nashville, and Isabella Bates of New Johnsonville; and his best little buddy, Milo.
He also leaves two sisters, Janice Jackson and Pam Buchanan (Sammy) both of New Johnsonville, and a brother, Teddy Stewart (Paul) of California.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Ollie Stewart and Eva Pauline McCaleb Stewart, son-in-law, whom he considered a son, Joey Breeden.
Visitation for Ronnie Stewart will be Friday, December 29, 2023, at Luff-Bowen Funeral Home in Waverly from 10 AM until Funeral Service time beginning at 2 PM. Bro. Brandon Trull will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery.
